Colomitos Snorkeling and Hiking Combo

Join our guides for a hike along the southern coast of Banderas Bay (Bahia de Banderas) for a fabulous morning of snorkeling in the remote cove of Colomitos. This ecological hiking and snorkeling combination adventure is ideal for wildlife enthusiasts, with sights to see in both the forest and beneath the crystal-clear waters of the cove. Children ages five and over will be thrilled to witness the beauty of nature firsthand on this amazing eco-adventure, so be sure to bring the entire family on this fun and educational excursion. The trail to Colomitos is only one mile along the coastal lowlands, so the hike is easy enough for almost anyone, including children.
A truly an amazing variety of plant and animal life thrive in the coastal forests along Banderas Bay at the foot of the Sierra Madres. Tropical plants such as Wild Orchids, Palm Trees, Plumerias and Ficuses provide cover and sustenance for an array of wild animals. Mammals that inhabit this region include Raccoons, Armadillos, Foxes and Skunks. You may see one of the many lizard species sunning on a branch or rock, including Iguanas. You may be surprised to see an inland crab, the Mountain Crab crossing your path. You could see insects such as prismatic butterflies, dragonflies, or termites in their massive nests. Tropical birds such as the Yellow Winged Cacique fill the air with their song.
After your hike through this verdant jungle, you'll reach a pristine beach with a stretch of golden sand - this is the shore of the secluded cove named Colomitos. You'll then hit the water to explore the cove while snorkeling. You'll witness an unbelievably colorful garden of coral inhabited by an array of marine species including tropical fish such as Puffer Fish, Eels, Angelfish, and Sergeant Majors. After our naturalist guides lead you to the prime snorkeling spots, you'll return to the beach for a complimentary light lunch with a gorgeous coastal landscape as a setting.
