El Morro

El Morro is an excellent sportfishing destination. On the way to Corbetena, this group of rock pinnacles makes for some of the most exciting scuba diving in Puerto Vallarta, and also some of the best fishing. The barnacle-covered rocks attract tuna up to 50 lbs, sailfish, dorado (mahi mahi), yellowtail, and more. It's not the trophy destination that Corbetena is, but it is closer and gives you a very good shot at them. The proximity is similar to the Marietas Islands, so we may visit either one on any given day, depending on where the fish are biting.

24 miles west of Marina Vallarta. Approx. travel time: 1.25 hours each way.
